About Employee Giving

Employees of Dominican Hospital give so much of their time and talents to the hospital every day to make a difference in the lives of our patients. No matter what role they have at Dominican, their dedication sends a powerful message to the community.

Every year, employees display their commitment to quality healthcare by participating in the Foundation’s Employee Giving Campaign. Employee commitment and loyalty is part of what makes us great at Dominican Hospital. Since 1995, Dominican employees have donated over $1 million back to the hospital and it's programs.

Employee donations to the campaign have supported many of the various hospital initiatives and projects over the years. Most recently the campaign contributions have supported the Healing Courtyards project, Employee Wellness Center, and specific departments of the hospital.

About the 2019 Campaign

This year’s focus was the expansion of oncology massage therapy hours at the Katz Cancer Resource Center, housed at the Richard and Mary Solari Cancer Center. Certified oncology massage therapists provide patients chair massages during infusion treatments and monthly full-body massage. They also teach caregivers how to provide neuropathic massage treatments to help manage pain, reduce stress, enhance ability to cope, and improve feelings of well-being for patients.

“The massage program has been very comforting for my patients; having stress relief and helping with various types of muscular and neuropathic pain. Patients express how much they look forward to their massage and it really lifts their spirits.” - JULIE JAFFE, MD, Director of Outpatient Oncology and Hematology

“The massage program is a wonderful and much-needed service for patients at our infusion center. Jane, our massage therapist, is specially trained to provide massage therapy to oncology patients and is incredibly skilled, calm and kind.” -DEBBIE REED, Oncology Patient Financial Services Advocate

“By understanding the various types of cancers and the side effects from treatments, I blend massage techniques allowing each client to receive a custom massage promoting relaxation, anxiety and pain reduction. I also provide an effective massage protocol for Chemotherapy Induced Neuropathy; teaching family members and caregivers how to do this for their loved one at the Katz Cancer Resource Center.” -JANE ANN CLEMENS, CMT

Special thanks to our 2019 Employee Giving campaign committee and over 30 champions for their invaluable involvement. Also thank you to, Ted Burke, owner of Shadowbrook Restaurant, and Ian Mackenzie, owner of Mackenzies Chocolates, who donate and volunteer their time and expertise towards the annual campaign.
