2019-20 Annual Impact Report

Generosity fueled the common good for our ministry this year, helping us raise more than $4.4 million through philanthropy.

Those dollars are critical in ensuring that Dominican Hospital can serve the vulnerable and build healthy community.

There is an act of kindness behind each and every one of those dollars that we hope to honor in this annual report. In the following pages, we bring you stories and statistics from the 2019-20 fiscal year, to show you why we need this support and how these vital funds are making a difference for our patients, their families, and our community.

In these pages you will learn how we responded to the COVID-19 pandemic here at Dominican Hospital with an outpouring of support to our staff. And how that same funding approach is helping to annually fund key areas and departments at the Hospital through our Health Care Sponsorship and Employee Giving Programs. We also meet donors who share their unique take on why they give, what it means to them personally and what it means to their community. We see how their contributions allow programs to grow and facilities to expand to serve even more people in the places they call home.

Each gift, no matter the size, contributes to myriad possibilities to improve health and impact patient care. We are so grateful to each and every person who makes this commitment through philanthropy.

Donors help us raise our sights, bolster innovation, bring together the community, and serve the vulnerable. Together we accomplish what none of us could do alone. The foundation receives gifts in a host of ways, through annual support, special events, private grants, major and special gifts, and legacy/estate gifts.

Transfers made by the Dominican Hospital Foundation to Dominican Hospital show collaboration and accountability as monies are transferred from the foundation to the hospital only after the donor's intent has been realized or the project completed. This ensures that 100 percent of your donation supports 100 percent of the cause of your choice.

This fiscal year the foundation transferred nearly $4.6 million to help support key capital and program services identified by our President/CEO, Nanette Mickiewicz, MD, and members of her hospital leadership team. Some examples of those initiatives were:

  • $1,000,000 distributed directly to employees, honoring more than 1,450 #healthcareheroes at Dominican Hospital
  • $1,750,000 to the leading-edge Comprehensive Cardiac Operating Suite
  • $600,000 to the soon-to-be-opened Healing Courtyards Initiative
  • $315,000 in Maternal Child Health for NICU equipment and nurse education simulators
  • $300,000 for Equipment needs in Acute Care and Operating Rooms
  • $170,000 to purchase the Veran Thoracic Navigation System for Pulmonary Health

Our donors generosity is nothing short of inspiring. With deep gratitude, we celebrate almost $4.4 million in donations for many different programs, services and projects. Here are the Top six areas that received support throughout the fiscal year:
