Wellness Center
Improving the health and well-being of Santa Cruz County.
Senior and Dependent Adult Program
The Senior and Dependent Adult Program at Dignity Health Wellness Center in Live Oak supports seniors and dependent adults in Santa Cruz County through ongoing care after rehabilitation. Licensed Physical and Occupational therapists lead exercise classes that enhance strength, flexibility, and endurance in a group setting, promoting socialization and functional mobility.
This program caters to adults with progressive neurological disorders or those recovering from traumatic injuries and illnesses. It addresses the risk of functional decline after discharge from therapy, which can lead to costly cycles of hospitalization and rehabilitation. By offering maintenance therapy, the program helps patients maintain independence and overall well-being.
Infant Development and Parent Education Program
The Wellness Center offers a comprehensive Infant Development and Parent Education Program. This program provides a full range of care services for infants and families who have been discharged from Dominican Hospital’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It ensures ongoing care, support, and monitoring for these at-risk infants and their families throughout the continuum of care, particularly during critical developmental stages.
Health and Wellness Support
The Wellness Center offers a variety of health education classes and support groups, including Senior and Dependent Adult programs, and Parent Education. Participants can learn about nutrition through meal planning, engage in balance training for fall prevention, enjoy swim classes for all levels, practice tai chi for mindfulness, and more. Many classes are available both in-person and virtually for everyone's accessibility.
