Completed Campaigns
Over the last few years, we have successfully completed the following campaigns and initiatives in support of high-quality healthcare here at Dominican Hospital. The partnerships facilitated by the Foundation with community members, businesses, and other foundations allow these significant achievements. Here are a few of the recent areas of support.
The Dominican Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the successful completion of the CT Precision Imaging Campaign in honor of Sister Julie Hyer, OP. The campaign facilitated the acquisition of two new CT (computerized tomography) scanners for Dominican Hospital. The hospital offers an extensive range of imaging services including breast imaging, ultrasounds, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), PET (positron emission tomography), x-ray and fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology. In addition to these services, the hospital will soon have access to brand new, cutting-edge CT scanners.
In 2021, in honor of Dominican Hospital's 80 years of serving the community, the Foundation fundraised for four major initiatives, guided by the healthcare needs of the community. These initiatives include innovations in cardiac care, leading-edge surgical care, expanding wellness services, and emergent needs for patient care. Each of these initiatives has successfully enhanced the essential components of the care provided by the hospital. The Healing Courtyards, is an important project that will leave a lasting effect on Dominican Hospital and our community. From patients and family members, to employees and physicians, all will benefit from these spaces. Over 60 scientific studies show that interaction with nature reduces pain and stress and boosts immune systems. Research based studies with actual patients showed that access to a garden can speed up healing from surgery and infections and reduce the need for pain medication, resulting in fewer post-surgical complications and less hospital time.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for residents of Santa Cruz County. In fact, 40% of all heart attacks are fatal. Early medical intervention is key to surviving a heart attack. Statistics show that patients who get to the emergency room within one hour of the onset of symptoms have a greater chance of survival. Learn more about our new Comprehensive Cardiac Operating Suite.
